It is a human instinct to yearn for transformation and meditation ensures small cumulative shifts over along periods of time. Meditation will help you learn not be in haste, waiting in the spirit of openness ready to receive without attachment to egotistic demands. The subconscious mind will take in these changes hence communicate them to the conscious mind bringing long lasting changes. Meditative minds have the ability to be still which non-meditative minds can not do.
