I crept up on you, deep within your sleep

For I couldn’t stand the endless wait

Saintly patience tried to new limits

Stealing a kiss, I stayed longer than a thief

Wishing that I could store it in a jar

Memory eluding my sense of touch

Etched on my lips, I tried to brand myself

For a permanent mark to ease the pain

A feeble attempt to end the longing

Your breath so near, your face so close

Astounded by your beauty, I watched in wonder

Your face permeated by hues of white

I folded your smell in a handkerchief

Your scent, a sweet smell of summer

Capturing your brightness at last
