Lost, swirling in a whirlpool of expectations
Solace on the foothold of madness
A grip so tight, a mandatory noose for diversion
Handing over to death’s reliefs in numbness

Hopelessness a mate for a night
In hours so dark for the owl to hoot
A forbidden omen for the tame to light
As ghosts float in the midnight mist

Lighter and lighter I light my feet
To take their fate among the fleet
In ways so bare to tear a treat
Among the wise that like to eat

Sweetness lured within a cake
A signature dish the tender make
Rendered in needs of a transient take
Expectations burnt in a fantasy bake
